
The NATO Information Assurance (NIA) 2008 Symposium was held at SHAPE 7-9 Oct. There were over 600 attendees from Industry, government organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGO), academia, NATO nations IA staff, NATO Strategic Commands and NATO agencies making up the audience. The NATO Information Security Technical Centre NITC of the NATO CIS Service Agency (NCSA) organized the event on behalf of the entire NATO IA community.

It has been a great honour for the Director of NCSA to host for the first time the visit of the new Chairman of the Military Committee, Admiral Giampaolo di Paola.

The sun shines over NCSA on its first open day held on the 16th of September 2008.
For the first time NATOs biggest Agency, NCSA, opened its doors to the SHAPE community and guests on the 16th September 2008. The purpose of the day was to provide an opportunity for people to see what NCSA is all about and to explain through a number of demonstrations and a static exhibitions the broad spectrum of Communication and Information Systems activities performed by NCSA in supporting NATO

We asked for a good attendance and fine weather. We promised free beer, good food and some fun competitions. Lots of NCSA staff and Families turned up, the weather was excellent, the beer free and cold and the food was plentiful and outstandingly tasty.

The 3rd NCSA Golf Tournament took place on 3rd September 2008 at Royal Golf Club du Hainaut (RGCH).
This year’s event was set to be the biggest yet. With the main aim of the tournament being to promote corporate relationships, it was a varied and diverse field that found 13 golfers from various industry partners that support NCSA; a number of guests from other agencies; and many members of the NCSA team taking to the fairways of RGCH.
With the period of summer vacations approaching, the NCSA Director, Lieutenant General Ulrich Wolf recently took the opportunity to invite the NCSA ‘Family’ to attend his regular mid-term review in the SHAPE Cinema.

LtGen Wolf and LtGen Godderij
Information and decision briefings are usually dominating the calendar of our Director, but last Friday was slightly different.
Lieutenant General Wolf was delighted to welcome Lieutenant General Peter Joseph Godderij, NLD Air Force, to NCSA Headquarters. General Godderij is the Director of the International Military Staff at NATO Headquarters.
